Jo McGonigal is an artist living and working in Manchester, UK. She is also a Lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Leeds. In 2020 she joined Outside Architecture, an artist-led collaborative group based in London, participating in exhibitions and events internationally. Her practice has gained significant recognition within the last few years, with a number of important mid-career group shows, several solo shows and a series of ambitious larger-scale projects. She was shortlisted for the prestigious Tate Northwest Prize in 2020; longlisted for the British Art Show 2020 and nominated for the Paul Hamlyn Award in 2017 and 2018. McGonigal has gallery representation with Patricia Fleming Gallery, Glasgow. The concerns that drive this work are new materialities/-isms and paintings intersection with architecture.
